Jovan Snyder
Environmental Analyst

Jovan Snyder joined the IEC in May 2023 as a seasonal intern, and was promoted to Environmental Analyst in May 2024 following the completion of her dual degree in Bioenvironmental Engineering (B.S./B.S.) from Rutgers University. Jovan manages NPDES and SPDES compliance inspections for industrial sites and Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs) within the IEC’s District. These inspections comply with IEC’s duty to ensure any discharges into its jurisdictional waters abide by their respective water classification requirements. Jovan also manages IEC’s continuous monitoring efforts which provide high resolution data to be used by private industry, researchers, and policymakers.

On top of these two projects, Jovan handles many other tasks for the laboratory. This includes assisting in field surveys, mapping progress in the LIS Septic System Replacement Program, and coordinating an ongoing eelgrass restoration project near the Staten Island Living Breakwaters. Her work for these projects includes sonde calibration, analyses for chlorophyll-a and total residual chlorine, and data management using GIS or other relevant software.
