IEC Resumes Long Island Sound Monitoring

Share this update:

On Tuesday, June 30th, IEC resumed monitoring surveys in Far Western Long Island Sound, after a two-month hiatus due to COVID-19. These surveys monitor dissolved oxygen, as well as parameters that may impact dissolved oxygen at 22 stations in support of the Long Island Sound Water Quality Monitoring Program.  IEC performs monitoring surveys weekly during the critical summer season, when hypoxia is most prevalent. Weekly surveys will continue through mid-September. Weekly survey summaries can be accessed here. IEC also prepared a joint 2019 Hypoxia Season Summary, with Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
