Valeria Izeppi initially joined IEC in June 2022 as a seasonal intern, and was promoted to a full-time Environmental Analyst I in June 2023. Valeria assists IEC in its quality assurance measures to ensure that IEC's data is accurate and of high quality. This includes conducting internal audits, editing and updating documents such as QAPPs, SOPs, and proposals, and organizing proficiency tests and monthly data verification. Valeria oversees the New York Harbor 604b Monitoring Program funded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which includes boat- and land-based field work as well as microbiological laboratory testing. At this time, Valeria is pursuing a new laboratory capability for total organic carbon which would allow IEC to process samples that are currently outsourced. Valeria earned a B.S. degree from Rutgers University in 2023, where she majored in Environmental Science and minored in Chemistry, and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Environmental Science at Rutgers.
