The Interstate Environmental Commission seeks a seasonal intern to assist with laboratory and office work associated with IEC’s water quality monitoring projects. Intern will be responsible for assisting with chemical and microbiological analyses on water samples, performing laboratory washing, sterilization, and bottle preparation, performing quality control tasks and record keeping to monitor equipment performance, equipment calibrations and data entry. Assist with tracking, inventory and receipt of laboratory samples, supplies and reagents, general upkeep and housekeeping of the lab. Intern may assist IEC staff with water quality monitoring surveys.

The position will require approximately 37.5 hours (five days) per week, with some flexibility to accommodate academic schedules. This is an in-person position. This position does not include a remote work option. The anticipated start date is May 1, 2024 with an estimated end date of October 31, 2024, with some flexibility to accommodate academic schedules.

Successful candidate will have, at a minimum, 3 years toward a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or closely related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Demonstrated laboratory experience a plus.
